Car Notes
2011.06.13 Ebay

Quincy, IL

For Sale is my daughters 98 Trans Am LS1 / Firehawk clone. It is a titled Trans Am, but has all the modifications of a SLP Firehawk and more. I am not trying to pass this off as a Firehawk, It has all the modifications but not the Firehawk title. The history of the car as I know it is this, a woman in St. Louis bought the car new, after 2 years and 19,000 miles she decided it was too much car for her and sold it to her nephew who was and is an ASE certified mechanic and certified Pontiac Tech at the Pontiac dealer the car was originally bought just a couple months prior. At purchase, he ordered all SLP Performance mods and installed to his car at the dealership. He also added a few other mods. He owned the car until mid-07 when I bought it from him, I bought the car for my daughter who was only 13 at the time, so incidently it did a lot of setting. I drove it periodically but for the most part it sat under a car cover in a heated and air conditioned garage. When she turned 16 I gave her the keys and it was driven practically every day, except winter, no snow. After a few thousand miles of daily driving the #4 main bearing spun. So, I took it to my Pontiac dealer, pulled the motor, sent it to a performance engine only machine shop, did a complete rebuild including new pistons and port work. I took the completed engine back to the Pontiac dealer where they installed it and hooked it to there computer to make sure everything is up to specs. There is around 7000 miles on the rebuild, we change the oil every 3000 miles and havnt had the third change since rebuild. The engine was broke in for the first 3000 miles on standard lubricants, but we now use only synthetics. Other than the $5200 rebuilt engine, I just put on four brand new Bridgestone Potenza Z rated tires for about $2200. At that time I pulled all the break callipers off the car to have them powder-coated, the after market wheels have large open webs and rusty calipers look bad. It also has new pads all around. As far as the SLP mods done to the car, I will list what has been added but if you are not sure what a SLP Firehawk is you can look it up. They are a Canadian based High Performance Company. Mods to the car are... 18" American Racing Rebel Wheels, SLP Ram Air H.O. hood, Mac mid-length Headers and Catted Y pipe, SLP Loudmouth stainless steel exhaust cat back, SLP lid, SLP MAF sensor, Smooth bellows kit, Throttle body bypass, Cold Air Mod, Granatelli Strut tower brace, Wilwood cross drilled and slotted rotors, Alpine head unit, Infinity speakers, Infinity amplifiers, Rockford subwoofer, Clifford alarm system, hard wired for rearview mirror radar detector. The condition of this car is nearly perfect, there are absolutely no dings in this car anywhere, there are a couple rock chips on the front that I couldnt get to show up in photo, the front passenger side corner has a small scuff that would likely rub out (see photo). The interior of this car is beautiful, no tears, rips, cracks, no panel sun fade, seat back cargo nets arnt even stretched out of shape, All the power accessories work. The display on the radio recently quit working and the sub has never worked (may be simple, have never checked). All the glass in the car is perfect NO chips. Unbelievebly, the original t-tops insulated panel liners are still with the car as is the interior rear deck cover. If I have seen a thousand of these cars, 999 of them are missing these parts. It even has the original embroidered floor matts. I assure you I have seen countless Firebirds and Trans Ams and even several firehawks, and other than a few that are collector only, this is the nicest Trans Am Ive seen. Yes I have ran the car, I mean come on, who buys a car like this and dosnt, (but I promise you it was very minimal, this car is well taken care of) two of my buddys have Firehawks, I smoked them both 3 times each, and they never got me. This car is BAD FAST, for an American built, mass produced, respectfully intended throw away car, this thing will flat shit and get. Made 3 passes in 1 day at strip on pump gas with no additives, best time was 12.6 at 109 mph. Again I dont want you to get the impression that this car is been beat, quite the contrary, its been babied, but I have seen its capabilities a few times and its impressive. One look at this car and you will know it is everything I said it is. I will warn you, If you are the winning bidder, do not show up 1 cent short of sale price, because you will not leave with it and that is a promise. If you have any questions feel free to email me, I will be traveling to South Carolina for a week but I will try to check my emails. In some of the photos the metallic paint gives the appearence that the paint is faded, it is not, it is as slick and shiny as the day is long. I have described the car to the best of my ability and have disclosed its few and very minor flaws. Bid with confidence, its been owned with pride.
